Mixed auction results

A pair of south-west rural properties were auctioned yesterday morning at Cobden Civic Hall to mixed results.

David Steel from First National Real Estate said a 114-hectare Fosters Road property on two titles at South Purrumbete had sold for $530,000 to a south-west region dairy farmer.

“It was a fair and expected price,” Mr Steel said. “There were half-a-dozen bidders.” He said a 225ha Soundrys Road property at Elingamite was passed in without a bid.

“It was passed in on a vendor’s bid of $2200 an acre. We had half-a-dozen people come up after the auction and they submitted offers in writing.

“We expect to have something by the end of the week but there’s still a chance to put in offers.” The block includes a four-bedroom house, hay shed, machinery shed, garage, silos and a 12,000-litre auto cleaning vat.
