Knee-deep in golfers

Beer aplenty and a beloved naughty guest gave a Darwin charity day some bite as golfers teed off with a shotgun start.

A sea of more than 120 orange shirts swamped the course at Marrara to raise cash for the Red Cross. Former Hey Hey It’s Saturday star Dickie Knee was liberated for the first time in 10 years to grace the First National Real Estate O’Donoghues’ 18-hole fundraiser. Dickie’s alter-ego John Blackman said: “I had a shocking game I spent so much time in the bunker the French Foreign Legion made me an honorary member.” Organiser Jeremy O’Donoghue said auction items including helifishing would top last year’s $40,000 success.
